Meet Dr. Jacinta Fernandes

I was just 17 years old when I started studying at Goa Dental College in my home state of Goa, India. After transferring to the Government Dental College and Hospital in Mumbai, I completed my Bachelor of Dentistry program and was awarded a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1986.

In order to be accepted into a postgraduation program, I had to participate in the All India Entrance Exams in 1988. My score ranked 22nd in the nation. This allowed me to enter the college of my choice: Nair Hospital Dental College in Mumbai, from which I received a Master of Dental Science in 1991, with a specialty in operative dentistry and endodontics.

In 1991, I moved to the United States and joined my family. I continued my education at New York University College of Dentistry, and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1994. Shortly after, I attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry at the New Jersey Dental School, to complete my postgraduate program in endodontics in 1996.

My endodontic career began with Endodontics Inc., a multi-location practice that had offices in Salem, Danvers, and Malden. In January 2005, I acquired the Malden location and opened Endodontics of Malden. Since then, I have maintained a successful, state-of-the-art endodontic practice where patients receive the utmost care and respect.

I also share my knowledge and expertise with my colleagues. I am a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the East Middlesex District Dental Society. I served as secretary of the EMDDS for six years.

When I’m not studying, working, or meeting with other dentists, I spend my time at home with my husband Viney and my children. I also enjoy gardening and traveling.
